The Texas Hill Country features a terrific cycling climate, providing great days for riding in every month. Although it can be hot in July and August, mornings and evenings in these months are generally great for cycling when temperatures moderate (and rain is infrequent, although thunderstorms can build in the afternoons). Not surprisingly, January presents our coldest weather and July our warmest. Most rain occurs in October, with rain also statistically frequent in April. From about February through early June expect wind. Whereas in August and September look for calmness and lighter breezes.
Oct-Dec: Our best riding weather occurs in November, when we have the best probability of favorable temperatures combined with a low probability of rain. Towards late December knickers will be necessary more frequently but otherwise conditions can be surprisingly temperate.
Jan-Mar: Any given day could be nice during this period but cold rainy days are possible. Knickers are usually adequate; tights are needed infrequently by mid-day.
Apr-Jun: Good riding conditions but one will probably face a headwind; rain can be a factor.
Jul-Sep: Before 11am and after 5pm one will find very favorable conditions. Mid-day riding will be HOT. Heat relief begins in September.
